Combined Asthma & Anaphylaxis

 

Gain the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond quickly in an anaphylaxis or asthma emergency.
The course includes looking at how to use asthma and anaphylaxis action plans, how to effectively use medications for these conditions and how to conduct an anaphylaxis/asthma risk assessment for the workplace/education setting.
It is suitable for anyone who may have the responsibility of managing the first aid of an individual with anaphylaxis or asthma, and may meet requirements specified in Education and Care organisational policy.

What certification do you get?

This is an accredited course. On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
  • 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis.


St John recommends that asthma and anaphylaxis skills are renewed every 2 years.

  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis signs, symptoms, and triggers
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis medications and devices
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis action plans and first aid management
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis risk management planning for the workplace
  • Hands-on-practice in using Asthma inhalers and spacers
  • Hands-on-practice adrenaline auto-injector administration
